MOREMI, SAVUTI & CHOBE 7 DAY SAFARI

7 DAY SAFARI - 3 NIGHTS MOREMI, 2 NIGHTS SAVUTI, 1 NIGHT CHOBE

DAY 1 TO 4 MOREMI

We can book a charter flight ex Kasane to Moremi or you can book this direct…. Once you land in Moremi it will be a game drive to your private camp in the African savannah.

The next 2 days will be spent in this eco-system that remains one of the World's least spoilt and most beautiful wildernesses. The Moremi National Park is situated in the Okavango Delta and forms an intricate part of the Delta. This comprises of permanently swamped areas, seasonally swamped areas and dry land. The game drives in the Moremi takes you through the open grasslands and swamp areas. There is an incredible abundance of bird life and wildlife. There is always a sense of expectance and whether you be looking at a herd of Impala or the resident lions, one is always surrounded by the beautiful Okavango Delta. The Moremi reserve has a huge variety of animals, especially predators and bird life and so there is always something to see on the drives. As an optional activity one can take a full day boat cruise on the Delta but this should be booked in advance. It is a wonderful day as there are some huge nesting sites at certain times of the day. You might be lucky to find a rare Sitatunga antelope or a pod of hippo, but whatever you may see the scenery is fantastic.

DAY 4 & 5 SAVUTI

Today the camp will be moving from Moremi to Savuti. It will be another early start for everyone, as the camp staff will have to move the camp and we have to see what is in store for us. While the camp is moving (if on a semi luxury safari, otherwise the camp moves with you in a trailer) we will follow at a leisurely pace on a game drive as the two areas are joined and it is a game drive the whole way. As the drive will be spread out over the whole day there will be a packed lunch served along the route out in the wilderness, it always tastes better that way.

The Savuti area is a prime game viewing destination and covers almost 5,000 square km in the south west of the Chobe National Park. The area offers great game viewing at certain times of the year. The Savuti Channel has a fascinating history of flooding and drying up independently of good rainy seasons and flood levels elsewhere - a mystery that has intrigued geologists and other researchers for many years. The channel dried up in 1885 and started flowing again in 1967 until the end of 1982. Since 1982, the channel has been dry but in late 2009 it started to flow again. It is slowly filling up the marsh and has transformed the area from having 3 small water points artificial pumped to a wetland. This has also changed the cycle of animals that used to migrate out of the area in the dry season, they are now staying. It is very exciting and should be fascinating to see develop.

The next 3 days will be spent game driving around the Savuti area. Here we will get to see our first hills where some of them have small San paintings on them. We will break it up into a morning and afternoon game drive with a nice siesta in the middle. There are plenty of birds and animals to see in this area. This area is famous for its large bull elephants and lions but one must always keep an open mind and enjoy whatever we encounter.

DAY 6 CHOBE

This morning we will pack up camp and depart for Chobe National Park (River front). This journey will take approximately 4 hours. The park is the second largest in Botswana (11,700km²) and named after the river Chobe that forms the northern boundary of the park. The Chobe River support one of the largest concentration of elephant found anywhere in Africa and it is not uncommon to encounter herds in excess of a hundred. The elephants leave the river for the southern region of the park during the rainy season (December to March) at the time when food and water is freely available inland. Chobe is also famous for it's huge herds of buffalo, the Chobe bushbuck, and for being the southern-most point where puku can be seen. The river serves as the main water source for the wildlife and birdlife in the area.

The next 3 days will be spent game driving along the incredible Chobe River flood plain and experiencing an abundance of wildlife. We can book a 2½ hour boat cruise on the Chobe for the guests at an extra cost. This is normally done at lunchtime and a picnic lunch is served just before jumping on the boat.
